Point of Impact

My rifle is sighted in @ 100yds. If all I change is the height of the scope ( tall mounts to low mounts--1" difference) where will the bullets impact @ 100yds? Higher? or Lower?

It is a moot point but if you lower the scope overall (assuming the new rings have the same exact dimensions as the old ones and their heights are accurate relative to each other) your point of impact would, in theory, be a higher by the difference in height of the rings. That being said you will need to re-zero since the mere act of removing the scope from the rings will change your zero somewhat. I would make a trip to the range before hunting or shooting a match if that is what you are getting at.

Thanks watercam for your reply.
As I understand it, if I lower my scope by 1" and everything else is equal, than the impact will be higher by about 1". Is that correct?

1"!!!!!!! How high were your high rings! In theory yes but as I said it all goes out the window when you remove the scope from the rings. And if they were not lapped and the new ones are, you are in completely new territory.
Best of luck, good shooting!
