i was told that someone on the 6mmbr site had data on a buttstock for an ar15 that was more benchrest friendly. it may just be an add on to the stock parts.

i currently use a 3'x6'x 0.5' al plate on my fore arms....

need something on the back end

any ideas ??
thanks

Robert whitley @ 6ar.com uses a delrin add on for riding the rear bag. Also one for the front. His site should get you what you're looking for.

I use a magpul prs stock on my AR... like it a lot...

How about some further info on the front 'flat' you are using on your forearm? Does it attach to the sling stud? Did you make it yourself etc?

thanks, larry

i have three ar's that i use for club benchrest shooting. one is an ar10 in 308 win br...small group is a 0.116...ags under .2
an ar15 in 223, just a min spec chamber with a short throat), ag's around .2,and
an ar15 in 6pp being changed to a 6 beggs...trouble extracting cases...and the beggs is a tapered case.

308 is a 1/15 twist, the 223 is a 1/14.
i have two flats, getting a third made). they have a channel cut down the center, just a tad larger than the free float tube, and then are glued and screwed to the tube. originally on an ar10t i just screwed to the swivel stud hole.

again i was told some one makes a butt stock adapter that has a shallower draft to it....any one ??

still no source ??

Am a big fan of the PRS stock. I'm also thinking of getting the EGW rear bagrider for my other lower with an A2 stock, and a front bagrider from either Sinclair or EGW.

I've found a Magpul PRS buttstock excellent and it rides a bag well. Up front, I have an EGW plate on an aluminium forend tube. This combination is stable and tracks very well indeed in both benchrest mode and prone a la F-Class.

PS Yes, we have AR10s and 15s in the UK too. However, semi-autos other than in .22 rimfire calibre are classed as 'prohibited weapons', so our models are built specially for manual operatgion using side mounted operating handles. We can have any mod, goodie or accessory that you guys have plus more in one respect (sound moderators) and the rifles will do everything your ARs will do except automatically eject and reset the trigger. (They're also easier on the brass and don't need as much cleaning in the absence of a gas system.)

This rear rest would work good with a carbine buffer tube.
