Aluminum base provides a stable case support for taking case or loaded round measurement..ie..seating bullets, shoulder bump, setting up sizing die.
These are head size specific..223 (.378), 308 (.473), Magnum (.535) etc etc....or let me know what cartridge you want one for.
2 styles available. (1)Direct mount for caliper or (2)for Hornady Comparator Base.

The slots as seen in 3rd picture can be added for those that feel they are necessary for their reloading technique for an additional $10
The slots allow the caliper to be zeroed at bottom of pocket for those that desire that ability. 5th picture.
Last picture has a 3D printed base. More to see if there's any interest for those before moving ahead. $20 if that route is explored further.

What if you slotted the "working" side of the bases, so the caliper could be zeroed?

I purchased a direct mount type(stepped for 2 different case heads) from Bob. It is well made and I get repeating measurements using it. I didn't have an anvil for my caliper, so I went this route. Haven't ran any large batches of brass but used it to reload some hunting rds. It was easy to align with my Hornady comparator, as the diameter is very close. He shipped quickly and packed well. Does he do this? That’s my concern too. I think this is a wonderful product but how you zero them for accurate measurement?

Do you realize the caliper dial can be moved..or in this case "zeroed"?

I think most know the dial moves to be zeroed, however, if the caliper base had a slot in it , the caliper would be able to be zeroed before you measure.

If it had a slot, I'd buy one too.

Edit to add: the slot has to be perfectly flush with the bottom of the pocket.
