PMA or Century 21 ?

They are both nice tools. There is hardly any difference when you are set up and running with either one.

Between the PMA and 21stCentury, the PMA uses typical standard shell holders rather than special ones. The PMA adjustment is smooth, the 21st clicks.

I lost count of how many different tools I have between ones I bought and getting them as gifts, but I really do like the PMA tool. I set it up to let the handle close on the tool body for positive depth setting, but I set that installation height with an Accuracy One primer gage, and roll with them.

(I also recommend that Accuracy One gage. I see Primal Rights is going to make a version with mechanical dial and one with an electronic gage option as well. But a caliper or depth gage works too.)

I have the full set of K&M tools, both the plain one and the one with the dial gage, but find that doing the above with the PMA tool works just as well and is far less complicated.

I would ask around and see if one of your friends or club mates will let you try one of theirs. That is the best way to know if you really like the features or not.

The PMA tool is nice but it does not have detents to adjust primer depth. I change between small and large primer seating often. With the 21st century I know how many clicks from closed I need depending on cartridge and it makes it easy since it has detents. The PMA has an o-ring and I’m afraid I’d have to constantly be checking my primer depth since it’s easy to move it.

The 21st century has proprietary shell holders but I use the standard .308 case holder and it holds every caliber I load for.

As for measuring primer pocket depth and seated primer depth a depth mic or a tail end of a caliper works fine.

For those that feel the need to spend more time measuring primer depth and paying a premium:
