Pleased with Ruger American .308 Accuracy

I picked up a used but like new Ruger American from the local classifieds for $225, and that included one full box of Hornady American Whitetail ammunition, and rings. I did the usual wipe down, and cleaned out the bore with Butch's Bore Shine after getting it home, and mounted up a Zeiss 3.5-10x44 after lapping the rings. Yesterday I took it out and sighted it in, and here is the group that I managed to shoot after sighting it in. This is a four shot group, one full mag with a 168gr SMK load at 100 yards.

Wow , that is great shooting.I would hang onto that puppy for hunting. It never ceases to amaze me when an entry level gun shoots better than a 2000.00 high end gun. Keep us updated on how she shoots other ammo as well.

Thanks, Jon! I totally agree, this rifle isn't going anywhere..lol! Yeah, it's kind of crazy, but I guess it's just like everything in life, just luck of the draw. It definitely doesn't feel like a great custom, CZ 550 or a Model 70, but it sure does shoot. I should have purchased a lottery ticket after shooting this group..lol!
