Not sure how you're going to make that work? You would have to donate to see what's listed after your fifth purchase? How are you going to determine who's buying from whom?

It amazes me that some people think that contributing knowledge and contributing money are the same thing..... HUGE difference!!!! Couldn't be more different!!!

First, the Boss can't take the knowledge about shooting, reloading etc from this site and pay for software. It just can't be done. Knowledge isn't currency and it takes currency to run the site.
Second, the knowledge that is contributed goes to the forum members. They suck it up and hopefully use it to improve their shooting. The money goes to the Boss. He sucks it up and then spends it so we can have the opportunity to suck up more knowledge. No monetary contributions = no site = no more knowledge.

It's not complicated at all.... It's really just basic math.

you’re right it isn’t complicated at all. The boss decides if it’s a paying forum or not. No one else. So don’t bash other members for a rule the forum boss has on his forum.

Just call a spade, a spade. Having banners gives certain members moral superiority. It’s insanely off putting. Do you want the firearms community to grow or not? Contribute because you want to. Don’t force other members to do the same.

I don’t feel like losing a valuable knowledge base because people’s feelings are hurt that they contribute more.

Also, I didn’t come here to support an internet server. I came here because guys were nice and helped me out a ton with their knowledge. So yes knowledge is more valuable than money because without it there would be no reason to contribute.

how did this forum survive, let alone get over 50,000 members before you graced us? Pretty full of yourself if I may post so... Stay away for a week, and see if the forum survived in your absence when you come back.

dont think i said i had any thing to do with the success of this forum... and it will be a success with or without me... i have no doubt.... i did say i try to contribute when i can.. and i have no doubt what little i can help matters not to most but it may some... point your finger and tell the non paying members how big of low lifes they are long enough and you wont have to worry about them... all you will have is a handfull of platinum members...

I'm not trying to force anyone to do anything, but I am trying to help people understand that it takes a lot of MONEY to support this site. Just so you understand, my goal is to help keep this site around and for that to happen, the Boss needs more money. The 3% or 4% of us that do send money, can't carry the load for everyone forever. More people need to step up to the plate.... In the meantime, since you think knowledge is more valuable than money, maybe you could put some knowledge in an envelope and mail it to the Boss so he can buy some software with it.....

Forum Boss: That sounds simple, but there is absolutely no way to do this using current Forum software. It CAN be done if we move all buying and selling to a different, outside-of-Forum trading site. But we don't want to do that.

Please understand that the creators of Forum software never ever contemplated revenue by transaction. There's just no way to do it. We had to have custom software created just to be able to monetize Silver and Gold.

I already recommended that last year. Software and money tracking can’t support it. I recommended that and making your classified a sticky for $3-$5 for 24-48hrs so you don’t have to bump it up. But the software is pretty in depth.

Forum Boss: 300_whisper is correct. The software has absolutely no way to bill or collect on creation of a thread. That kind of fee-for-transaction is available with a standalone trader site but we would have to bounce members in/out with different software etc. Not practical.

I sold 3 things in 2011. I bought 1 thing in 2013 and 2 in 2016. If this is what this place is turning into, why bother?
