Plate extractors

Is there an easy, good to know secret about how to change a sliding plate extractor? I struggle every time I try to change one. TIA

The ones I have have a small hole that you can stick a small pointed punch to depress the ball or pin detent. As you push the detent, apply pressure on the extractor until it slides free..

A good idea is to do this in a clear baggie, so when that detent and spring fly out, you won’t loose it.

That saves me from having to build an all white clean room to do this stuff in lol

It’s on the front of some bolts to extract the cartridge, hence “sliding plate extractor”.
To get technical, it’s a little plate thingy that’s held in place with a spring thingy that allows it to slide in and out. I have a pic, somewhere?

Thanks Jackie, yeah, I usually use a tiny Allen wrench to push the pin down and I usually use an old bread bag to catch the flying parts. This one in a Bat wants to be extremely contrary. Hi to Miss M, see y’all in Orangeburg. Jim

After fooling with the darn thing for 30+ minutes the other day I just went out and popped it right out first try. The tip of the pin holding the extractor was not very flat and that was causing the problem. A few seconds with a file and it works much better.
