planning to start reloading 30BR

Hi everyone, flexible here; question on reloading 30BR (especially case forming).
Currently I live in NJ where I shoot monthly group BR matches, i use a 6mm PPC.
In about 2 years I'm moving to NC where the matches are mostly score and I'm planning to eventually shoot a 30BR.
Do I have this correct where i buy Redding 30BR dies BUT i also buy a slightly larger die and use a Redding tapered expander button, part number 16307. This expands the necks from 6mm to .30 cal in one pass?

Do some research on the many articles, posts and threads that have been written about this subject and other 30BR info, some by me, then decide how you want to proceed. IMO you would be best served using Harrell's dies which are relatively economical and good quality plus they are available in different base sizes so they can match dies to chambers, just do it like they say. Another issue with the 30BR is bullet and powder availability. If you want to use Randy Robinett's BIB bullets, for instance, you should go on and put your order in now as they take awhile to get. If you should find some H4198 buy all you can get. There are alternatives but you get the idea. Good luck with the 30BR, it's a fun round to shoot.

Neighbor across the rd shoots 30BR in UBR and wins many of the matches. He was telling me he expands the necks of his brass in one pass with a 6mm-30 expander. I anneal his brass for him so I hear a lot about what he does.

Yes, you can go from 6mm to 30 caliber in one pass, just go slow and use lots of lube.
Harrell’s and Redding dies are both high quality, the Harrell’s lets you get a little more precision (better match to your chamber). Wilson are fine die’s, too.
Most folks I know use LT30 or N130; N120 has some fans, and so does Benchmark. H4198 is probably best, but they haven’t made it in years and finding it is increasingly difficult.
Berger 115’s perform well, but best are custom (BIB and Bart’s, to name a few).

There are lots of ways to manually expand up. Just starting out, the easiest is an expander body like PMA sells with their 6-30 expander. If you're expanding 220R in an expander body now to make your PPC brass, you may just need the appropriate tapered expander for your expander body.

For dies, Harrell's full length bushing dies are a great choice as they have sizes to match different chambers. The Harrell's 2.5 is a good place to start or you can send them 3 fired cases and they'll send back the die they recommend. I usually get one size smaller than they recommend. A standard Wilson seating die does a fine job for seating bullets.

At this time, forget about H4198. N130 and LT30 are both available....hint.
