Just returned from a PD shoot on Standing Rock. Four towns that were previously on our regular list were nearly barren of dogs. These are large towns about one mile long by 1/4-1/2 mile wide. Another that was active last fall was also barren but that one had the mounds bladed off so it may have been poisoned.
It appears that plague may have jumped to Standing Rock. We have shot at these towns for years killing hundreds at each with little effect on the population. We talked to another group of shooters and they said they were seeing similar results at some of the towns they shoot. Ironically there were still some high population towns in the midst of the barren ones that were readily accessible by cars or trucks.
We use ATV's to access all of the towns we shoot... towns that are very difficult or inaccessible by car or truck so it seems unlikely that shooting pressure could account for the extreme fall off in the population.
Does anyone know or heard of confirmed plague on Standing Rock?
