pistols are not around?

Last week I went to two gun shops in my area. California. I was looking for a extra pistol. Both shops said they are having a hard time getting pistol and ammo from a lot of manufactories. Is this a problem in all of the USA?

Have you seen the price of pistol ammo?
My LGS was having a hard time getting pistols, but in the last
couple weeks it seems to be getting better.
Unlike ammo, primers and powder, you don't need a 1000 or 20 lbs.
of pistols, just one or two is all these newbies are buying.
So the gun manufacturers can catch up in that area pretty quickly.

My son bought a Glock 45. He bought 1 box of ammo for it as that is all they would allow. He went back a week later and asked if he could get some more ammo . They said sure, Ammo would be $500 and you would get a free gun. He really didn’t think it was too funny either.

I'm in Nc and can not get a Ruger revolver so I would say yes. Been on the notify list at Buds but they aren't getting them either.

Speaking of 9mm ammo. Midway is having a "sale" on IMI 9mm 115 gr. JHP ammo, only $60 for 50 rounds!

i think its worse in some places, especially those with rosters that limit the handguns that can be sold.
and cali falls into that

Have to wonder how many of these new pistol shooters will ever master shooting them. Years ago when my state got concealed carry, I was a range officer at my club. Used to joke that the safest place to stand was right in front of the proposed target.

Record gun sales. According to NSSF, there were 7,000,000 new (first-time) gun buyers in 2020. If each gets just two 50-rd boxes of ammo, that is 700,000,000 rounds of ammo needed.
