pistol ? re Walther ppq m2 45acp

I know this is off the rifle subject however I am puzzled.

I purchased one of the above, love everything about it ---However--

when crono of factory, GI, and hand loads, I find the velocities to be 40-60fps below my Kimbers and 1911's of similar bbl length, I called them sent the bbl in and they indicated the 825 for 230's factory was in spec, sent the bbl back, sorry about that.

what do you fellows experience - do you think "factory" velocity out of poly 4.35" bbl should be 825? .,my hand loads used for years in ipsc which gave 910 with 200gr for power factor are running mid 800's

Bore scope the Walther Bbl compared to your Kimber/1911 Bbls & you will see why the velocities out of the Walther are slightly lower.

no scope, I know the different kind of rifling, however I had experienced slightly faster velocities from poly than std rifling,

is you comment re "roughness"/

I feel your pain and anguish but it is what it is. Loads for the 200 gr bullets (your loads) should be faster then the 230gr factory ammo if loaded around the same pressure levels.
Even if the barrels were exactly the same length, and loads were identical there are differences because of manufacturing variances in barrels, bullets, powder, actions, temperatures, etc,. You know this is true in rifles, and revolvers/pistols are NO exception.
I would worry more about the accuracy Bob.

To even things up, if I were you I would load a few rounds "exactly the same", powder/bullet/case/ primer and then see what the differences are. It's just to many things going on the way you are looking at it.

example
Speer Golddot factory 200gr 861fps vs 920
Gi 230 RA 68 825fps vs 863

I have compared reloads re different pistols, these data above are the best way to indicate the problem.

I can load up, but there you go pressure.
