I wish that were true, Federal and others switched to using small pistol primers in 45 ACP ammo.45 acp cases use large pistol primers.
They would not always go bang the first time, I tried rifle primers in my 9 mm Glock 26...bang, click, click, click, bang,...really a frustrating day at the range, and I never loaded any rifle primers in 9 mm again....depends on your firearm, hammer fired probably no problem, striker fired maybe, maybe not. If they work, great, if it's hit and miss with light primer strikes, no fun. Load a few and try em with each rifle primer you choose, as some rifle primers have even thicker metal cups .025, mag, BR, and mil spec. While regular non mag primers have .022 thick cups easier to ignite with a lighter pistol firing system. Can small rifle primers be substituted for small pistol primers in .45acp cases? I shoot only softball target loads of 3.8gr Clays and 185 cast bullets.
Found out about small primers in 45acp the hard way, by ruining a decapping pin trying to punch out a primer. Learned to sort range brass pick ups after that! Lol.
