Pistol cleaning question

Took my Valentines Gift FN X out today for the first time. Love it. 5 @ 25 yards. As you can imagine, it shoots dirty with the suppressor attached . What is the best method/cleaner to clean the blowback powder residue from the hard to reach areas in the frame and trigger assembly?

Shooter Choice Shotgun choke tube cleaner. Works great on muzzle brakes too. I corrected my mistake, it's Shooter's Choice not Birchwood.

I rinse with naphtha and dry with compressed air. Use a small soft brush to apply a very light coating of oil to the appropriate areas.
I buy the naphtha in the paint section at Lowe’s.

If you oil the internals of anything, the WET collects more junk.

Nice setup! I use and LOVE the Hornady One Shot gun cleaner. If you spray the weapon good before a range session, the carbon just wipes right off. My second go to is Ballistol but it's not for everyone with its unique smell ; )

I use my favorite gun solvent, an old tooth brush and patches. Once everything turns black I blow it all off with break cleaner, use the air gun to dry things out then a light coat of oil.

The 509C i just picked up last weekend doesn't have that thing attached on the muzzle.

I always sprayed my pistol bodies out generously with gun scrubber. Cut that work in half.

Old dirt biker trick -- spray everything down with WD 40 BEFORE you go out, then spray down with the garden hose when you're done riding. not really.


Do the basic field strip, then , I like the naphtha, or lighter fluid with a paint brush, hit it with the canned air when you're done. I don't use a lot of oil except maybe a smidge if something looks like it needs it.

I use my favorite gun solvent, an old tooth brush and patches. Once everything turns black I blow it all off with break cleaner, use the air gun to dry things out then a light coat of oil.

Careful with that brake cleaner, it is some nasty stuff and can cause respiratory damage if inhaled. Carb. cleaner does the same thing and is much less hazardous to your health. Brake cleaner is also a carcinogen.

Is that a flyer? I picked up a Hornady ultra sonic cleaner. Going to try pistol parts in it.

I complete strip would be better, but, if you have an ultrasonic cleaner, then remove the slide, and strip. Put slide parts in a small container with 1/8" holes drilled into the bottom and sides, then place the frame, slide and container into your preferred solution and run for 30 - 40 minutes, rinse and blow dry with compressed air.
