Pinching the trigger with thumb on guard vs traditional hold...

Right now, all I have is one of the Caldwell front bags for my wider forends. They are a kind of vinyl top. I use a drier sheet or a piece of shopping bag plastic to make the rifle slide more easily. Are they really that bad? I have purchased a leather Protektor bag for my sporter stocks and plan to do the same when replacing this Caldwell.

Given the choice, I'd sooner use old shot bags filled with sand before I'd use a Caldwell bag.

I pinch my triggers, rimfire and centerfire with very light pressure on the back of trigger guard with my thumb.

I have a man on our team that shoots this way and does very well. I cringed a few times from the coaches chair but I don't try to change things during competition. I guess anything no matter what it is that makes a improvement on the target is just adapting and a natural common sense. I try not to introduce side pressure but if you can keep it a constant then that is all you need to know.

With my 2 F-Class long range rifles with Jewell triggers at about 8 oz. I always fire the "normal way". With my Savage F-Class Mid Range rifle in 223 Rem with a Savage non target AcuTrigger at about 1.4 pounds I have had better results by pinching. I have not felt the need to upgrade the trigger with an after market one with a lighter pull.
