Pillar Bedding??

I am working on a Savage target action, MBR Tracker stock and Broughton barrel build of a 1k gun. Any recomendations on someone to pillar bed it for me?

Thanks

Tom Meredith of TM Stockworks. I cannot imagine a better source. Great guy, fast turn time, fair prices and gorgeous work.

How hard is Devcon to work with after it is set? I've bedded some hunting rifles with Acraglass but the stock already had pillars. This is my first stock that I have to bed from scratch if I do decide to go that route. Thanks in advance for any help.

Good article here. Devcon used in article is easily cut and worked with Dremel tool. However, you should not have to do much.

Marine-Tex is the best stuff i have used. I will say that the devcon steel and Ti is good stuff but i wont use anything but marine-tex again. Its easy to work on after its set if you need to. Use modeling clay to keep it out of places you dont want. You can let either type setup for a while if its to liquidy and its makes it a lot easier to get it where you want it.

I use steel putty Devcon and have done a number of stocks with no bad experiences with it. I use Johnson's floor wax as a release agent and fill on the holes and crevices with modeling clay. Not hard to do and there are a number of video's and articles on this website to help get started. I take pride in doing my own work, but am not so prideful that I don't bow to others expertise when I get over my head.

If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, Tom Meredith is great and has done great work for me in the past on a stock.

Be very careful what release agent you use. It will cause you problems very quickly! I have always used the brownells and it has never failed me. Its price is reasonable too.

I prefer to use Kiwi neutral shoe polish as a release agent, it has never failed me...
Some of the other stuff is to thick for my liking....

You guys ought to try Synlube 1000 Release Agent, a can of it came with the Darrell Holland stock I bought, along with Marine Tex for the bedding. Comes in a 10.5 oz spray can, stuff works great, easy to use, never had anything stick.
