Pillar Bedding Time/Cost?

I have a customer that specs step downs at specific lengths based on German artillary. Im up for just about anything.
Well, I'm older than dirt and the news isn't new, just not widely known. So here it is.
Lay out three lengths from the muzzle to the start of the fast taper . Run maybe . .006 or.007 for the first section. .008 or.009 for the middle. And .009 or .010, even .012
for the last. Plot your groups before and after. You will be impressed. Works for prone and f class sticks. F class fat tubes need a bit more aggressive taper changes.
It's my hunch that the change interrupts the harmonics. At least, that's what I've seen many times over.

I think that’s more than fair when you can chamber 5 barrels in the time it takes to do a proper bedding job. No complaints here.

Who do you recommend for a bedding guy?
For me its more about lead times than money. I hated being 1.5 years out on builds. Lots of stress. So by narrowing up what I take I have got lead times down a lot. I still do stock work. Just a lot less of it. I used to do my own paint work too. At some point it makes more sense to send it out. I know when I build a rifle and the customer agrees to have Sitman do the stock it cuts the lead time to 1/3 of the time vs me doing it all.

Alex. I did a fair amount of the bedding work for the late Stan Ware. It allowed Stan to shorten up the turn around times and sleep better...not looking at all the backed up work. And I got some good hands-on time on his mill and lathe and his common sense way of instructing.

He was doing an invoice for a complete build one day and showed me the figure for the pillar bedding I'd done. "Nyhus, I don't mind undercharging a customer for work I don't pay you sh!t to do, anyway."

I'm not aware of that, per say . But there is a way to multi taper a barrel to dampen out a good amount of harmonics flutter. I've done it multiple times to good effect.
Tell me more about these "tapers" or "Steps" if you would
This almost reminds me of the science of harmonically tuning exhaust.

An expansion chamber is not, but i think the change from one taper rate to the next somehow interrupts the harmonics of a one taper rate contour. Im too dumb to know or explain why, I just know I've seen improved results from about 30 or 40 I've done over the years. Most have been prone 308s and some any,any chamberings.
