Pig Hunting

Compared to wide open Illinos in winter the pan handle is for sissies. I no what wide open is in northern IL in winter. Been here 50 years and cant wait to leave. Panhandle cold hooohy!LOL.

Do you have any family with land? Thats always a good place to start. As long as your on good terms.

If your a Don Wan then try finding a girl with a dad that has a hog problem 8)

Was in TX last week. While not Iowa cold, it gets pretty chilly at the higher elevations. Snow helps spot these, that's for sure..

Nice, I want to go too. I was looking at ranch hunts in MO but I want to hunt not shoot a hog in a couple hundred acre pen! I just hate to drive all the way to texas and bang on doors and not get to hunt! That would suck as it is a long drive from this frozen tundra!

Wapiti25 is right on, central California has very good pig hunting in fact its the only thing about California I miss. Shot a pig not to far from Hunter Ligget that had blue fat from eating grapes it was tasty.

save your breath and don't waste time searching north of Lubbock. once you get up on the mesa, there are no pigs.... because there is no water.

Give the Berry Ranch a call in Dilley Texas. Just look up the Berry Ranch online.

That's a rip-off! $150 for 1 hog, and extra money for 1 more. This is what ticks me off. I understand them wanting to make some money off of them, but that's crazy. They can keep them.

I've been going to the same place for 7 years. All inclusive, one price per day, and kill all you can. 2 years ago I killed 19 in 3 days. All spot and stalk. You can find places like it, you just have to try different places over the years...and open your wallet.

I've been looking for a free or cheap place to hunt hogs in TX for 8 years...and it doesn't exist. Unless you have relatives that ranch.

And, no...I won't tell you where I hunt. ;D

Does Texas not have BLM or National forest land open to the public to hunt on?

We do Zfast... But close to me is Sam Houston National Forest.... I call it Sam Houston National Rifle Range! There are SO MANY "shooters" and very few hunters there that hunting on "Public Land" is really a joke! About 4 hours north of me is Davey Crockett National Forest... >>Same as Sam Houston.. Z, you have to remember that in Texas 96+percent of ALL land is privately owned... Leases are KING here..

I looked into pig shooting in California since I have a place to shoot pigs on a ranch there. The rancher says he is overrun with pigs and wants them shot. California wants you to have a out of state hunting license. You must have a taq for each pig shot. I don't remember the figures but the out of state license was mid $100s and the pig tags were $67 apiece if I remember right. Add in gas, food, and places to stay. I didn't go.

If you want to shoot varmints in Idaho, the non resident varmint license is $35. Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, free.

I too have given up on pig hunting in Texas.
If people want them shot it should be easier and cheaper.
When you can buy one for less why go?

Come to Arkansas, $55.00 - 5 day non resident license, Game & Fish says ,shootem, letem lay!
