How about the Info on the Barrel ?
C4 carbon remover shows copper?Follow up on the barrel:
The second one came, had no fouling or jacket material inside plus the crown hadn't been re cut. By what I saw inside, I'm gonna say it had never been near a bullet. Also, it wasn't full of gouges and tool marks. After putting 10 rounds through it, I ran a few patches through it with C4 carbon remover to see how much copper it held. Surprisingly, I didn't find any. The accuracy was very good considering 0 load development too.
The 1st came from a company with a 1MOA accuracy guarantee so I figure it had been sent back, re crowned then put back in the system. It might have been OK but considering everything I saw inside, why waste components trying to find out?
Yea, I'll keep my Teslong and will keep looking inside new barrels.
Clean barrel, then, LAP with, some JB's or, Iosso "Slathered on" a tight Patch, over, a Bronze Brush about, 10-15 Strokes, all ONE way,.. then, CLEAN, thoroughly AGAIN,.. go Shoot !It's not a hand lapped barrel...looks like a typical standard production barrel. If the chamber area looks good. Lap it...then shoot it.
I figure if I remove all the powder residue without touching the copper, I will see it.C4 carbon remover shows copper?
Talking to me? I just wondered about the carbon remover.I figure if I remove all the powder residue without touching the copper, I will see it.
Didn't use Eliminator first because I didn't want to disturb the copper. Is that incorrect?
The thing is, there wasn't any. The used barrel I was sent, was full of copper and tool marks.
Which barrel would you rather have? One full or tool marks and gouges someone had returned that had been re crowned or a new barrel without any visible flaws?
If I'm sent a reject, it needs to be reflected in the price and that one wasn't.
The OP stated he used C4 Carbon Remover, in the barrel after 10 test shots, to see how much copper the barrel held. After 10 shots he used his bore scope, and didn't see any copper left in the barrel.Talking to me? I just wondered about the carbon remover.
John, I don't need to reread his post. I'm not arguing with him. I just asked a question. The OP stated he used C4 Carbon Remover, in the barrel after 10 test shots, to see how much copper the barrel held. After 10 shots he used his bore scope, and didn't see any copper left in the barrel.
If you re-read his post it should make sense.
Yea, you asked so I tried to explain. I never said C4 removed copper.Talking to me? I just wondered about the carbon remover.
Come on feller, I never said that you said it removed copper. I'm afraid to post anything else as it might be misconstrued.Yea, you asked so I tried to explain. I never said C4 removed copper.
OK, I'll try this again.C4 carbon remover shows copper?
Ah. The term 'showing copper' often refers to showing blue on a patch that indicates there is copper in the barrel.OK, I'll try this again.
If you use a chemical that has no effect on copper but removes powder fouling, isn't that "showing copper?
I thought that was clear in the other post.
