Picatinny Rail Recommendations?

Stainless rails and scope rings are my choice when I need to add weight to a competition rig when trying to get as close as possible to weight limit. As for Titatium, its like buying a Rolex...works the same as any other watch, but if you want to splurge, then why not?

Seems that no one these days can make a choice on their own. Always asking
for someone else to make the choice for them. SAD

So? That's how you learn new things, or how people search and get answers. I was looking for a rail some time ago, and learned about Murphy, who turns out, makes incredible stuff. I never would have known if I didn't ask and would be buying crap on brownells.

I am sure that Murphy makes some beautiful rails, and I have bought products from Brownells and none of it has been crap. I sent many bullets down range over the years, Hornaday, Nosler, Sierra, JLK, Clinch River, Berger, even some 6mm that came with the ugly gun that I had no idea what they were (boy did they shoot). Not one of those bullets could tell me what rail was on the rifle they came out of. Some came out of barrels so rough that they refused to print a good group and I knew what to do the make them happy. Others came out and said we are going to live in this little cluster and talk about what a nice barrel comes from Shilen, Rock Creek or Bartlein. But none have ever complained about what base was under my scope. Cold bore is right if you want to add weight that is a good way to do it. If I were to want to improve my scope set up it would be by increasing the screw size to a # 8 or a #10, and eliminating the square bottom counter bore with a tapered count sunk hole to align better and give more surface area to bear.

Even better is find which custom action you like which has an integrated 20 or 30 moa (or even flat if you want) pic rail built into and part of the one piece action body. The industry standard is moving towards all integral actions which includes integral rail and lug, which is a step in the right direction IMO. YMMV
this is what I think and want to. i should start working on replacing my remingtons rite now. though in all these years ive only had a pic rail come loose once.

I thought Murphy was the guy who threw the wrench in the Works??

A few years ago I was trying to find a rail for my Nesika K.....no go from any of the usual sources. Ended up making one from a blank.

Just looked at Murphy Precision based on your post ....there they are.

Thanks for the lead for future reference.

^^^^^^ Richard makes nice stuff. I have one of his that makes my Sako mounts system into Picatinny.
