Peterson Brass QC

Thanks for the replies folks.

I haven’t spoke with my dad yet to see if he called so hopefully he got somewhere. I’m sure he will be taken care of.

I’ll be ordering 6x47 soon based on more good reviews from this thread.

Thank you!

I’ve used a lot of brass from Peterson I. Several different calibers. Never a problem, nothing but very happy. That being said they are the kind of company that will take care of you, if there is problem with that lot of brass they would want to know and they will make it right. I’d be very surprised if you felt otherwise after dealing with them if there is an issue,

I believe I’ve had a few pieces that were a closer fit to my shell holder but nothing that wouldn’t fit.

it seems very possible that a metal chip can get between the brass base when they machine the rim.

I’ve got 400 pcs of Peterson 6XC brass and have not had any problems with it at all. Really like the brass . Have LRP and SRP brass.
Fully agree with your statement, actually the are two maybe three brands of top brass quality on the market, on the top is Peterson then Lapua, maybe RWS but all the rest is nearby r.......... .Peterson is the only one manufacturrer who understand the importance of the SRP pocket.
Hoffenly some new caliber brass will be come out soon, still waiting hardly the 223 ,22-250, 25-06 , 300WSM made by Peterson.

OP, have him contact Peterson and they will be able to help solve the issue. If it is a QC issue, they will take care of him well. That I can vouch for! I got a couple of free boxes of cosmetic 2nds and a nice hat for a really tiny issue. I had a good chat with a guy from there (I think he's in inspections/qc) and he wanted any feedback I could give him. Hats off to Peterson.

I ran into the same problem with 6mm BR. I bought 100 cases and on 17 of them the rim was too thick to fit the shell holder ( RCBS ). I contacted Peterson and they were very responsive and took care of the problem quickly. Super nice people to deal with. I sent them documentation with pictures for their information. Brass weighs very consistent.

Just finished blowing out my Peterson 6mmBR to 6BRX brass yesterday. It is much heavier (10 grs.) than the Lapua I have and only varies 1.0 gr. per 100 ct. I believe it will be good quality and looking forward to using it. I have also found the Peterson 260 brass to be uniform in weight and after a couple of firings it seems to be good quality as well.

I had the exact same issue with some 6CM Peterson brass. Some wouldn’t fit into 3 different Hornady (#1) shell holders due to rim thickness.

I contacted Peterson and sent some back to them. They said they measured to SAAMI spec and fit in their RCBS shell holder with no issues. I purchased a RCBS shell holder and they fit fine.

Hornady shell holders suck was my conclusion.

Was the brass packaged in their plastic flip-top reloading box or bulk? Not from Peterson but I have bought bulk (plastic bag packaging) brass with beat up rims that would not fit the shell holders. Was able to save them with a tiny file and remove the dings and rolled lips.

Mine brass came in plastic flip top boxes with foam in the top. The brass arrived in immaculate condition.
