Peterson brass

Just wanted to see/hear what the current opinions on Peterson brass. How does it compare with Lapua- blue box gold cardboard box? I just prepped up a batch of Lapua blue box and runout and lack of consistent neck wall thicknesses. Dissapointing compared to what I remember of the gold paper box. I'ved had no experiencewith the Peterson brand.
What do you think of it?

rogn,

I've found the necks to be hard and require annealing before neck turning, but this was some of the stuff Graf's had on sale. Very consistent case weights and neck walls. I recommend both the brass and the storage cases.

I’ve tried both the 6BR and 243 Win SRP.

Very consistent overall. Neck thickness tapers to .001 thin near the mouth compared to further down the neck but it’s extremely uniform as you follow a spot around the neck.

I can’t judge hardness out of the box but I did need to expand the neck on virgin pieces. Annealing every shot after that.

I have experience with Peterson 6.5x47 Lapua brass. It was more consistent in neck wall thickness and concentricity out of the box. I only bought 50.
After 3 firings and annealing after each shot, they are holding up very well. Still very consistent.

I bought a box of 50 Peterson brass a little over 2 yrs ago and have 17 firings on them so far. I've used them mainly for my hot loads and they're still going strong. They were prepped the same as I do all my brass to be sure that they're all as uniform as possible, which includes uniforming the primer pocket and turning the necks to .0135. I anneal them after every firing and they've been fire 17 times so far and still going strong. Primer pockets started out pretty tight and now not as tight as they used to be, but still holding firm. Case capacity for them are ~ .4 gr H2O less than my Lapua brass on average. IMHO, Peterson brass is on part with Lapua blue box. And in terms of neck runout, my Lapua was not as good at the this Peterson, but that's only prior to the first firing.

I've got a mate running their 6.5x47 lapua brass and it's fantastic. I've got 500 pieces of their 284 brass and it comes in heavier and with less variation than Lapua 6.5-284, and doesn't require necking up.

I prefer Lapua myself.
Had shallow primer pockets on Peterson 7mm-08. The only time I tried their brass.
I bought 100 243 Win SRP cases from Peterson and found the primer pockets to be shallow also, but I use a Sinclair "Primer Pocket Uniformer" normally when prepping brass, so not a big deal. I am on only my 3rd reloading, but so far I am very pleased. I found the neck thickness to be very consistant.

This is what I did also, and haven't had any other issues with the brass.
I just feel that if the cost is the same as Lapua, then buy Lapua, load and shoot, without having to fix any problems first.
