Very Important Information regarding 6.5 Creedmoor SRP's

Dear Peterson Cartridge Customers,

A few days ago we were notified by one of our customers, who had purchased some of our 6.5 Creedmoor SRP (Small Rifle Primer) casings, that he found a few casings which had primer pockets which were roughly .020” larger in diameter than the maximum allowed by SAAMI spec. They were in Lot # W1TL0079, and the QC # is 012218.

First off, I take full responsibility for this issue, as I am the one who designs the tooling which makes the casings you all have come to enjoy, and trust the quality of. Second, we are committed to making everyone whole who finds any of these defective casings. We would like to hear from anyone who has purchased casings from us, and has found any with primer pockets which are oversized and will not hold a primer. For anyone who has found the defective casings, again we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience, and we are more than happy to pay for the casings to be shipped back to us. We will then inspect them and replace them for you free of charge. We will also cover the shipping for the replacement casings back to you. As one last show of good will from us, for your understanding with this issue, we will also provide any effected customers with a one-time-use promo code for 20% off your next order from us.

This issue was intermittent during that run, which is how it was able to slip by our inspectors who hand inspect, chamfer, and deburr your casings before they are packaged and shipped to you. As such, only a very small percentage of the casings produced in that particular Lot # and QC # suffer from this defect. Through our testing of this issue, we have found that the casings produced during that run have primer pockets which are either correct, or they are too large by roughly .020”. So the bad casings are very easy to detect with a pin gauge of .1720” in diameter.

From all of us over here at Peterson Cartridge, myself especially, we are very sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you. We will continue to work to improve our product, as well as maintain the level of quality control you have come to expect from us. Please accept my sincerest apology for this quality problem which we have corrected.

President

I received the same email.

This shows real leadership in action.
I am sure there was a bit of conversation and consternation regarding this decision, having the courage to own the error and do what is right for the consumer is a scarce skill today. I applauded this young company for making the right decision.

To the OP,

Off topic a little, do you plan to produce 223 Remington brass?

MY mistake....should have clarified this in the post.....sorry.

I HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH PETERSON (other than a customer).
POSTED STRICTLY FOR INFO FROM WHAT APPEARS AS A STAND UP COMPANY

I will use Peterson brass exclusively if I can get it in the calibers that I shoot. Wish the .300 Win Mag brass was available.

Im waiting till my lapua brass goes and will be making a switch. Lapua quality brass and made in america... At least thats how its looking so far.

Now if they could get to making 6BR, 6XC, 22-250, 20 vartarg, 284 Win, 6.5 Grendel, and several others!!! but time and $$$.... new company..
