Peterson 6.5 Creedmoor Fat neck

Didn’t find much on this topic but I got my hands on 200 pieces of brass so I’m looking for some input.

Seems to me with some simple math that no brass measures up to spec for neck thickness. I understand the liabilities of selling brass with a neck that would be too tight in a standard barrel. I have a shilen barrel that I assume to be saami spec, so I figure turn those necks down to 155 or so, use a little candle smoke and have perfect brass?? I have standard Peterson brass and consider it better than brass costing much more but I still cant achieve the group size that I would expect (long time 22-250 shooter).

Any input much appreciated

The Peterson 6.5 CM Fat Neck brass was made with a slightly thicker neck than is normal ( .0155) - .0160"). It was offered for the shooters who like to turn their necks. Unfortunately, during my last conversation with Peterson a few weeks ago about this brass, they indicated that they don't have any intentions of making more fat neck brass for the time being. Which kinda sucks cause I had just sold my last two boxes and wanted to order some to try myself...

They did tell me that if I can load a bullet in it, and it still fits in my chamber, then it's good to go! YMMV. Send it.

As of the beginning of the yr they had 8500 pcs of this on hand, so I'd think they still have some to sell.

Remember it's not only the necks that are thich the hole case is thicker , less volume , should lower the load by one grain . Are you full sizing ?

My standard Peterson brass needs to be resized (full) after the 3rd shot. Also, as stated about the fat, standard is heaver and requires roughly 1 to 2gr less 4350 than nosler or starline to achieve the same velocity.

Received my fat brass today. Random 5 weight 171.0,171.8,170.4,171.8,171.2 and to my surprise they are roughly 2 grains lighter than the standard. Fat neck thickness a very even 0.0155 with an occasional 160 bump. Pretty darn exciting to have brass that measures up to what mr saami says its suppose to be. Never had that before.
