Lapua/Peterson .308 Win/Palma SRP Brass

I have been using nothing but Lapua .308 Win LRP in my F-TR rifle. But given the pressures I am seeing it is causing the pockets to open up far sooner than they use to. I want to switch to .308 Palma, small primer brass, but cannot find any. As I understand it Lapua has diverted all .308 brass to government orders for the next few years.

So thought I might go with Peterson .308 Win SRP brass. When I go to Peterson's website and click on the Purchase Now button it sends me to Gaf & Sons Reloading. Is this the only source for Peterson brass?

Anyone have any other sources for either Peterson or Lapua .308 Win/Palma SRP brass?

Thanks very much

The Peterson is really good. I got really nice sd and es and great elevation with it. It's a little heavier than Lapua Palma. I got the same velocity with half grain less powder. I only loaded new brass, so I don't know how long it will last. Some other guys are liking the Starline small primer brass. Of course, all three are out of stock everywhere.

Lapua has temporarily discontinued their 308 Palma brass. I bought a bunch in 308 and 6.5 Creedmoor, SR primed cases as well as a bunch of LR Lapua cases...long before the shortages and limited new manufacturering. Since I load both my insight is the large rifle primered cases are about 40 fps faster with the same charge... so ya have to slightly bump up the powder charges to get equal velocities, of LR cases. Probably should just lower the powder charge slightly and enjoy your LR cases there or try another powder...40 fps at the muzzle doesn't mean much at 1000 yds...but then I tend to push the limits myself...but back off a tad if the results are too negative...you have to decide what expense your willing to live with.

I've been using SRP Peterson cases for a while now and find them slightly superior to Lap in their weights and tolerances. Flash holes are also miles better. A mate runs Alpha with similar results.
I wouldn't recommend large rifle brass for FTR, you can run higher pressures in SRP vs LRP cases. More firings before the primer pockets loosen also.

Well it doesn't look like I will be shooting SRP rounds for some time. Peterson doesn't have any and Lapua has temporarily discontinued manufacture to dedicate equipment to their government contracts.

I still have some life left in the last 200 Lapua .308 Win shells and was able to get some BR-2 primers from another shooter that didn't use them anymore. So will make due with what I got until something else comes along. Will just have to be on the look out when they do.
