Pet loads for .338 Lapua

I have the same rifle. H1000 with hornady 285 elds and peterson brass work real well.

I've tried the Peterson Brass in my Creedmoor and it works well. I see your from Texas, I grew up in north central around Wichita Falls area as a kid. Lots of ranch land to shoot on if your friends with ranchers and don't shoot their cattle. ha. Any long range areas left? I now live in southern Utah.

I'm just getting started so bullet and brass selection is not the greatest. I did find some Norma yesterday and already have some cheap Priv. How much 1000 are you stuffing in and at what velocity? What are you getting for groups?

I have two nodes, one right at 89gr (~2730 fps) and the other at 92gr (~2830fps). The 89gr is the more consistent of the two and its also more pleasant to shoot. I still need to tune the seating depth.

Typical group sizes at 100 yards are 3/4 moa.

I'm a Texas transplant but I've been here for over 20 years.. Austin area. Best of the West goes out to 1000 yards but they closed their 250-1000 yard range recently for a redesign. Not sure how long it will be closed.

I've been to North Springs range in Price.. very nice setup out there.

Haven't been to North Springs, we have lots of open range all around here to shoot. No problem finding places to shoot a mile or more here in southern Utah.

I went with your load and it looks real promising,Have you found a seating depth your happy with? I'm 20 off now but thinking about going 10 each way next trip

Makes sense to me, your on the road to lots of long distance fun. Ha I heard some bases had to be drilled out but otherwise they will fit ok. Nice scope for long distance. Thanks.
I went with Jimbo's load with decent results. Need to work o depth now. Recoil was unbelievably mild (pleasantly pleased so far)

I did a seating depth test early on and came up with 20 thou off as the best distance. I'm planning to run through a second round of seating depth tests to confirm.

I just had the rifle out this past weekend, at 300 yards I had 3 5-shot groups, largest was 2.46" and smallest was 2.05". So while nothing earth shattering, it is holding ~3/4 moa which isn't bad for a factory barrel.
