Personal Electronic Target for practice?

Our club has three of the current 5 sensor G2's and I've heard rumors of the new 8 sensor version. The question I have would our current systems be upgradeable? If so, how much would this cost?
Yes the 5 sensor version G2 system is upgradable to the 8 Mic system at a cost of 900 as it will have totally different Mic's and upgraded harness for the new mic's .We are doing 3 of our's now

Apologies, we have not yet had time to officially and properly announce the new 8-mic G2-ShootersPac system, which is nearly ready for general sale.

All our existing G2 customers will be able to upgrade their 5-mic system for USD800.

You can see a sneak peek photo of our new gear on our website silvermountaintargets.com. Full and proper info coming Real Soon Now.

I just spoke to Bill above in Canada to try and help him with his Bulleye camera, I know the SMT is a better target system but for those that cant or dont want to spend that kind of money, the bullseye is a good compromise.
I tried different ways with the Bullseye to make it work and the best way for me was to put the ammo can on a tripod to get it off the ground 24" to 30" and when I get back to the firing line , I put the receiver on the roof of my truck behind me and the system has a clear line of sight and works as advertised.
I am not affiliated in any way with the Bullseye Co or owners, just trying to help those that are having connection problems with the Bulseye camera system.
Rob
I hope this helps.

Thanks rob I tried what you said to do and so far at 300 it works fine

Daniel - I got an email today regarding SOLO, the new E-target designed for personal use from SMT. Since it sounds like SMT is very close to release I have a question about the software included with the unit. In the email, it states that a "Full capability SMT 'G2' software interface also available. For advanced users". What are the differences in the two and what is the cost for the G2 software.

Hi Rick,

No cost. Our personal E-Target SOLO is a G2 "under the hood", however the user is given an extra-simple and easy UI, which in all honesty will probably suffice for 95% of the use cases. However, if someone is already familiar with our G2 software, or wants some particular feature that isn't in the super-simple UI (for example, firing in pairs or in three, or running the "plotomatic" feature), that is all available by simply switching into "G2 mode".

Hmmm maybe we need a better name for this than "G2 mode", that really sounds like a name invented by an engineer doesn't it? ;-) Perhaps we should call it a "power user button" or something like that...

Price on the SMT website for the SOLO is listed at $980. That isn't totally out of reach. If you go in with a couple of shooting partners it is very affordable. Is that $980 U.S.?

Yes, USD980, I have now made that clearer on our website; it only said "$980" when you visited.

Plus shipping of course, and if you are in a country like Australia, New Zealand or Canada you'll have to budget for applicable GST/HST as usual.

Hi Daniel

The material in you post suggests the bullet needs to be supersonic, will it detect with the same accuracy projectiles moving at sub and tran-sonic speeds?

Also, Is it worth asking when we can expect to see this land in Australia???

Cheers

Hi Daniel

If the bullet is moving slower than the speed of sound, it does not make a shockwave and our sensors have nothing to detect (all "open sensor" e-target systems will share this limitation).

"Transonic" usually means M0.8..M1.2 and is typically an airplane or ballistics/stability thing (transonic drag rise, etc). For e-targets sensing, anything >M1.0 will work (though we if you can hold at least 400m/s 1300fps at the target then better accuracy is achieved).

Subsonic is a no-go.

Also, Is it worth asking when we can expect to see this land in Australia???

Cheers

It will be available in Australia (and Canada, and NZ, and UK) at the same time as it is available in USA. The USA is our biggest market, but it is not our only market.

I might have missed it, but what is the accuracy level they are going to detect to? I have shot on the ones in use at the APRA. Curious if they will be the same as the G2 system or not?
