100 yards on all my rifles. I either dial to correct or hold over as needed. I never touch the windage knob.

My home range is limited to 100 yards but I use Brian Litz' program to calculate a 200 yard zero because I shoot 200 yard competition at a neighboring range. This works well for my varmint hunting for both my .223 and my 22-250.

I shot a tree once, but I only wounded it, so it ran off.

Had to track the splinters for half a mile.

I use a 22-250 with a 55gr. Nosler Ballistic tip for calm days sighted in 3" high @100 and a 243AI with 80gr. Berger for windy days, also 3" high, for long shots at Rock chucks (western ground hog). This allows me to hold center out to 300+. Have used my 6PPC but hate to sacrifice the barrel life on PDs.

Normally zero my 6BR at 100 yds, use quick chart for drop at farther distances. Leupold scope with varmint reticle works very well.

I use 100 yard zero and dial up. I also shoot the load at known distance at the range to get a more accurate drop chart for my specific rifle that using manuals or software. Often big differences.
