PD hunting in Vegas

I am going to be in Las Vegas this spring,09)looking for any infor do I need a HL? Where can I go if anywhere, am I going to have to pay the land owener. I am driving from Pa and I gotta get me some PD's thanks Brian

I've never heard of prairie dogs being around Las Vegas.

Me nether. I have heard there are a bunch of SPLIT TAIL varmint in that area, LOL.

There's some bench shooters, that shoot "Hunter class" monthly; out West of town...near the Red Rocks.

Prairie dogs live on the prairie, not in the desert. I'm very familiar with Vegas and the outskirts, and there are no prairie dogs, but there are lots of jack rabbits due north on BLM land. They are a blast to shoot, so are coyotes.

We've hunted a lot of ground squirrels in Nevada, although not around Las Vegas. More north of Reno and up that way. They might not be prarie dogs, but they're the next best thing! You typically find them where the ranchers are growing feed grains. They are pretty seasonal, though, and are not around all year long.

If your driving down I-40 stop in seligman, AZ. I dont know the area well enough to tell you where to go but there are huge prarie dog towns there so I am told. Maybe someone on the forum knows the seligman area.

About 20yrs ago I shot the Seligman area and even back then it was pretty sparse. More time was spent driving and looking than shooting. In a couple days there was one sort-of decent area, everything else was marginal. Most of the pd's were pretty spooky. It has to be a lot worse now. I wouldn't waste time going there.
