"A Tacom Charlie/Delta TARAC prism system was fitted in front of the Nightforce scope, allowing the team to put over 625 MOA of elevation on the shot while still being able to see the target. The ballistics numbers for this 6012-yard shot are pretty mind-boggling: 625 MOA of elevation was required, and the bullet was in the air for 17.1 seconds"shot22elr2.jpg

Not many years ago would everyone call BS if you said you hit a target at one mile in five shots. With a good spotter I did two years ago with my 6.5x47, no big deal. Today many do it solo. While this was a major team effort, its these types of endeavors which ultimately lead to the improved equipment and techniques we enjoy and consider normal today. Deficiencies are identified, solutions are developed, and before long commercialized for all; stretching the limits accelerates the process.

Help me out here guys. What's the point? Twenty two shots sounds to me like the guy at the carnival who spends fifty bucks at the baseball booth throwing enough times at the kewpie dolls to finally get enough hits to win a five dollar stuffed animal. I don't call it shooting. I call it lobbing. YMMV.

I think the point is he put a lot time, money and work into making this shot and he's proud of it....then you come along and crum him for it..awesome.

Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. Again, waste of time and money IMO. And he didn't make the "shot". He made 22 shots to get a lucky one. Skill? ZERO, YMMV.

Paul used a NF ATACR 7-35x56mm power scope, Tacom Charlie (Elevation adjustment of 500 MOA) and Tacom Delta (offset to see around the barrel), no additional magnification. According to Paul, he chose that scope because of it's high elevation adjustment range of 100 MOA.
Screw it tried to keep my mouth shut.....
SWFA would of given him another 30 moa.

It's impressive I guess that it was done, but IMHO I think it would be more interesting for these ELR guys to start setting up at 2000-3000 yards and cold bore hitting deer size targets. I would be more impressed
with a cold bore shot at 3000 yards on a 15" gong VS a 6000 yard hit after 20 sighters.
I think he'd have been better off shooting a 105 howitzer,1 shot would have obliterated the target with a smaller team.
And thier camo would also match!

Back to the howitzer

All bullshitting aside, shot probability is what was in his advantage. Sooner or later it was bound to happen. IMO

I agree it's how we learn and progress in a sport with our gear.
But let's be honest can you really fly a helicopter with out your hands on the controls.

That is so cool Congrats to him for something I thought was impossible.
