Passing time..

6.5 forever

Silver $$ Contributor
Just finished trimming a box of Lapua brass, the old fashioned way. 70 years old now and I am in no hurry. Put on some country tunes on Pandora and relax. Just passing time....
I'm probably the only one left who has the time and enjoys the process.

I also do it "Your Way" . I'm 73 , and though I do shoot quite a bit , I use a Trim - Pro Two , with the Three-way head . Put Celine on my cassette , and by the time the disc is done , so are my cases . If it's worth doing , it's worth doing correctly .

Celine? I hope you aren't referring to Celine Dion.

I don't care what her politics are . I could listen to that voice for hours . I heard her on the radio when I was driving a Big Truck years ago , and she was only fifteen . Same with Selyna , the Texican Chica they did a movie of . Saw her singing in a Bar in El Paso when she was only fourteen .

I also like taking my time getting my brass where I want it to be. I use a few different cutters and trimmers for neck turning and oal, some older ( JACO ) ( Pumpkin ) some newer ( PMA ). I like spinning them all on my Benchrite case lathe. I have never regretted putting out the money for that tool.....

Regards
Rick

Wait, What there's different ways to trim than this?

Guess there are more than few reasons to handload. In my golden years it has become a refuge from the world. Down the basement in my shop I have spent countless hours assembling ammunition. Listening to country music and talk radio. Speed or better efficiency has no place in my agenda. Use a Wilson case trimmer and their seating dies. In my past life I was a tool and die maker, so using micrometers and dial indicators is now mental exercise. Have reached a point in my life where the line between handloading to shoot and shooting to handload has merged.

Forster and RCBS trimmers. Recently did about two hundred cases of 300 Savage, converted from LC 7.62 brass (better extraction from my Model 81).
Pandora playing bluegrass
Working on my motorcycle might get me all torqued and cursing, reloading offers peace and relaxation to balance it.

At 70 I want to go slow with no distractions, so the radio is mostly off, the computer in the reloading room only on when looking something up.
I usually load in the morning with nobody home just me and the dog. That way no "honey dos" no interrupting questions, = no distractions.
