Paper targets keep blowing away

1/2 inch sheet of pink construction foam over your current backer....it's self healing, cheap and efficient.

I've had one 4x4 piece.on my home target for 10-15 years and 100s of rounds, without turning it, and it's still going strong.

Staples hold well but pull out easy without tearing targets. Never lost a target yet to wind or weather and sometimes they've been out overnite in wind and rain.

These type work great, you can usually find them in a bin at a hardware store and buy as many as you need.

That stinks man!..your finally all set up just about to Touch that trigger something you've been thinking about the past 5 days just about ready and a gust of wind knocks off the last 20layers of stuff holding your target on..hahaha..what a drag!..
I had 2 metal house for sale sign frames, you know the ones they stab in the ground black heavy metal, I had some scrap 1/4 birch plywood pcs I cut up to fit tightly inside each of the metal frames..and I made a few replacement sheets at the same time and toss them on a shelf in the garage with all the other stuff..I may need.haha.
I purchase bulk packages of shoot-n-c 3" sticky targets I can fit 12-3" targets per metal sign
I would set up both signs down range that was 24 targets..and if your shooting 5rd groups you won't have to get up untill your out of ammo to stick on new targets..
It really was a great method (for me) anyway..
Only issue was if no one mowed the rang grass .
It was free and saved me alot of money made me a better shooter as I never buy targets larger then 5-6" even for hand gun .
For 22handgun the 3" targets are still just fine so stock up..
I would find bulk packs of 500 3" shoot-n-c targets at sportsman's warehouse on line and there is another oddball outdoor place I would go back and forth if one place was out of stock the other had them..it was like 500-for 45$..
This was pre covid and I still have books of sticky 3" & 5" targets
These are my absolute favorite..hope it saves some one a few dollars, and a few headaches

3 staples on every side will hold up to 50 MPH.
In June 2002 I was shooting a Regional Bullseye match at our range in Bismarck. We had gusts up to 50 MPH. Anyone using less staples wound up having a range alibi, as the target face would wind up somewhere in SD. 4 of us at that match were at Camp Perry a month later & winds were light and variable at 25-35 MPH. Almost felt like shooting indoors.
 
Flour and water paste! Brush it on with a paint brush and slap it onto the cardboard. It won't blow off! Did plenty of this in the military pasting targets for high-power events.
 
Our club's backstop is a 4' x 7' sheet of 1/2" ply. Staples hold tight in the ply. The ply holds up fairly well for 2 seasons and then I replace it.

I make my targets with 100lb paper and florescent stickers of various diameters, depending on what I'm shooting. The targets do not tear in the wind and must be yanked off the ply. The staples still hold and the corners of the targets just tear away.

You do the same thing we do at our club. Our backers are osb board. We have over 700 members and the club get used hard. The backers at 25,50,100 and 200 last about 8 months. They get shot up and fall apart before the weather does them in. It gets really windy at times at our club. We had a storm come thru and literally wipe out the 300 yard line. I watched it on video come down the mountain take out the 300 yard line come across the from 200 to 0 and up over our cameras. It was amazing to watch. Staples and heavier paper and we have no issues. If I could just get people to use 1/4" staples everything would be good.
