Panda bolt lift question.

Besides greasing cams, lugs. On a panda, is there a way to lighten bolt lift? I know a lighter spring can increase chances of not firing. Just wanted to get thoughts from the panda wizards and pandaologists.

Thanks.

Kelbly actions are designed to have considerable cock on close. This means the cocking ramp helix angle is shallow. Pandas usually open easier than most because of that. If yours is opening stiff you may have an issue with the action. If its opening normally and you just want it to open easier, then no, theres nothing that will make any considerable difference that will not negatively effect accuracy.

Keep the bolt face and barrel face meeting surfaces clean as well as the lugs and lug area. Any debris that gets on these two surfaces can inhibit and create hard bolt lift. And it can be difficult to see debris in there.

It’s opening normal. Just wanted to try to lighten a little. Sounds like leave it be

My panda is still "firm" on lift , after over 6,000 rounds fired , but not a hard lift . As has been mentioned ; care in cleaning the lug chamber , bolt face , and barrel where the bolt makes contact is of major importance . As well as proper lube to all the correct areas . Having the correct "Bump-back" of at least .002" doesn't hurt either .

I bought my panda action slightly used. what type of grease should I be using in the lugs? I have been using a small dab of Mobil 1 synthetic red grease.

There is way to alleviate it some. You can have your gunsmith shave a few millionths of an inch off the barrel face. It isn't worth worrying about;)!

Richard ; check out Forum member "Grimstod". He makes a Bolt Lift kit for Savage , and I just put one on for my shootin Bud . It almost feels like a Panda , now . 100% improvement .

I’ve got adjustable hangers on mine
Measure yours, if it’s more than .240” it’s worth the effort to put one in
just don’t adjust it to less than .240”
