F-CLASS/PRONE MONTHLY MATCH
Well, with it being the middle of summer and being hot, we figured turnout would be down, so Vaughn had volunteered to call the line so I could shoot. We were wrong….
51 folks showed up to shoot, so a couple of us pulled out to help, leaving 49 on the line. With some tandem shooting, we were able to get everyone in. Vaughn did a great job on his first full match.
The 6 prone shooters had to shoot 2 to a relay on Target 15 and Mickey Brinkman was generous enough to allow a first time shooter to shoot tandem with him. Thanks to all for your help with this. We also had 4 ladies shooting with us today. 2 in F-Open and 2 in FTR.
The Prone side with 6 shooters was won by Warren Freeman with a 595-28X. Warren shot a perfect 200 on his 2nd string. Robert Bose shot a 558-14X to take the combined Master/Marksman class. HM Bill Jenkins shot a 200 on his 1st string.
F-Open had 23 shooters. Jim Gleason shot a 199 on each string to take the win with a 597-41X. 1st High Master was Bob Lundholm with a 593-34X, besting Marc Olivier who took 2nd High Master with a 593-28X. The combined Master/Master Unclassified group saw Doug Gary take 1st with a 592-23X and Carl Hill took 2nd with a 591-22X. The Expert/Marksman group had Chris Plaisance coming out on top with a 596-34X. Chris Plaisance, Bob Lundholm, Marc Olivier, Shawn Broussard, Jim Suber, Rick Smith, Wes Cummings and Doug Gary all shot at least 1-200. Also, 83 year young Jerry Deyeide was on the line!
The real excitement on the day was in FTR. There were 20 shooters, but by far the star of the day was 8 year old Abby Manis shooting a .308 and scoring a nice 536-2X for the day. Abby did her own pit duties scoring her target by herself. It was great to watch her and we hope she continues shooting and visits us again!
The overall win went to Craig Martin with a 597-31X. 1st High Master was Tony Arcement with a 591-29X. Howie Mahute was 1st Master/Master Unclassified with a 587-23X. Brad Mitchell took 2nd with a 586-23X. Rocky Bezet took 1st in the Expert/Marksman group with a 585-20X. Craig also shot 2-200's.
