As long as the paint does not change the bedding, it shouldn't give a problem with accuracy.

What color???? Seriously. I have wondered if painting a barrel will help to reduce or re-direct heating but I still haven't figured out if it will, or what color.:idea:

Efficiency of a heat engine depends upon several factors, one of the most significant in the case of barrel cooling being the efficiency of the heat transfer between media, i.e. the metal surface of the barrel and the surrounding air. Putting a coat of paint,a POOR conductor of heat) will not increase heat transfer efficiency, and will probably significantly decrease heat transfer and cooling. How many air conditioner coils have you seen lately that are painted?

Thanks guy's this gun is really a one shot working rifle.
three shots groups for checking zero only once a month.

Look at the Marine & Army snipers rifles some of them have a camo type paint job and the Brit SAS carries .338 Lapua bolt guns that are camoed.

My truck gun is a Reminton 700 in .308 that gets new coats of paint every year or so.

Just to add heat to the topic, I just finished a long heavy barreled 300wsm that has a vented bedding block and has been sprayed with the best heat paint I could find: Rust Oleum BBQ, dead) flat black. Works like a champ on bedding security and heat dissipation. Overbore

If using Brownells Gunkote on a barrell and the barrell is heated up to 300 degrees as instructed,wouldnt this wreck the barrell.
