Pacnor barrels

On their web site, Pacnor says they make "prefit" barrels that are short chambered for Rem 700...etc... Will the Pacnor prefit barrels for a Savage bolt action be ready-to-go like the Shilen or McGowen? Or are they short chambered also?

yes pacnor has prefit barrels for savage. Just give them a call. I think there site and other barrel maker's sites are just a base line of what the offer. They can most likely give you exactly what you want contour, chamber, etc. My smith lives by pacnors. I have never had a pacnor but have not ever heard anything bad about them. In fact I have only heard good things about the people at pacnor and their barrels.

Yes the Pac-Nor prefits for Savs will be full chambered ready to screw on.

I have 3 barrels from them. Screw them on, set the headspace and go shooting. Never had anything but the best service and quality from Pac Nor as well as Shilen. All good folks to deal with.

Penny is still there. She called me around 6:30 AM to tell me my barrel was to be chamber that day. (she must have spent the night there ) And the site mentioned 12 to 14 weeks wait time? Got my latest barrel in 6 weeks. Always good folks to deal with.

I was thinking of sending a R700 action to them to be trued and barreled, does anyone have any experience with them regarding this service?

I sent aRem, 700 action to pacnor a couple years ago, they trued the action , installed a medium palma contour in 6mm br and the turn around time was very satisfactory. it is still shooting great to this day. Im'e thinking about ordering a savage pre-fit, just not sure what cal. etc at this time. ronfoster

I only have one Pacnor barrel, but it won't be my last. Mine is a 25/06 AI, and it's an excellent shooter. Excellent service and quick service. ;D
