I have a Pac-Nor #2 contour Stainless Super Match barrel on its way to build a light weight 20 Vartarg on a CZ 527 action. Should make a good little walking Groundhog and Turkey rifle. Also should serve well this fall and winter predator hunting.

I have Pac-Nor I'm waiting on too. Should be hear the end of this month...I hope. Might I ask about how long of a wait for yours? Your gonna have a great all around walking do it all varmint-er with that CZ action. Your going to have to let us know how it shoots... :)

I ordered it on 4-10-14. It is a 12 twist and I have not ever had a problem shooting 40s out of a 12 twist custom tube. As long as its a true 12 twist it will shoot all the 40s very well.

This will be my forth 20 Vartarg. I have two heavy barrels right now both on Rem 700s. One a Lilja 12 twist 3 groove rem varmint. The other is a Mullerworks 11 Twist rem varmint. Both shoot under 1/4 inch. The Mullerworks is one of the best 20 cal barrels I have seen. My first 20 VT was a Douglas XX shot very well. I also have shot 3 Hart barrel 20 Vartargs and another Lilja light barrel. They all shoot Amazing little bugholes!!

12 twist/3 groove is what my first two 20's were built with...they are 20 VT & 20 PT...40 V max is all I shoot..no problems at all...although when I built my 20BR...I used the 9 twist/3 groove......the 20BR has since gone away...its now a 20-222...the last two 20PTs were 11 twist...these were for fellow shooters...using Savage target actions...all these tubes are P-N from Oregon...not to discourage anyone waiting for a barrel...our last one was a few days short of 6 months...yes Savage pre fit.......

Hillbilly….you must be the 20 Vartarg expert as I always see your posts connected to this cartridge and your on your 4th one now. I just bought my first 20 Vartarg and can already tell after only 6 groups it's the beginning of a long list of rifles to be built. The one I just bought is a Dakota Predator that just keeps shooting better every time I shoot it. It started in the 3s with a light load of Rel 7and 32 gr. V-Maxs and just keeps getting tighter. I shot 2 5 shot groups in the 1s yesterday with 18.5 grs. Rel 7/32 gr V-Max. Put flags out and shoot BR quality bullets and it starts reminding me of my 6 PPC BR guns. I see 0s in the future. I already have a BAT SV on order and it will most definitely end up as a light walking varminter in 20 Vartarg. Now I just need my order of H-4198 to show up.

Dan the little 20 Vartarg is overlooked by most because of its size. I have made shots with the vartarg that people just want believe if I tell them. I would take a Vartarg anyday over the others. Small powder charges, 1/4 inch groups, 400 yard capability, low noise, and the most important being able to watch it all take place thur your rifle scope. I can promise you want catch me without a 20 Vartarg ever!!!

I have four barrels by mullerworks. They shoot exceptionally well, and a breeze to clean with no fouling after a simple breakin.

Hillbilly, any of your other VT's on that cz action. I have built a few on savage actions and use as single shots.
I have talked in depth with AJ at bighorn actions and he would build me a specific bolt head just for the VT.
The cz seems like the way to go for that round.

Thanks

Kyle

Hillbilly, I'm already looking forward to building my next Vartarg. This is close to what I'd like it to look like.

Here's my Dakota and the first 4 groups I shot out of it. The first group (largest one) was .368". The groups went counterclockwise from bottom left.

I have never built a 20 Vartarg on the CZ. I have built 222s and the like. Couple of my shooting buddies have CZ 20 Vartargs on CZ 527. They work great and the round feeds very well out of the mag. Thats some good shooting Dan. It doesn't surprise me anymore when shooters tell me they shoot 1/4 or less groups with the 20 Vartarg. Just a Wicked Little Awesome Cartridge! 222 Rem was my favorite until the Vartarg Bug got ahold of me. Right now with the Norma and Lapua Fireball brass we have it better than ever when it comes to loading precision ammo for the 20 Vartarg. I am running norma in my Mullerworks barrel and Lake City formed in my Lilja barrel. I have two hundred Lapua waiting to be loaded. 20 Vartargs want burn out like alot of others. They just aint hard on barrels.

Almost 3K down my Rock before I sold it and it still shot under .5" with dogtown bullets over a 21gr charge of AA2200. Boringly accurate.
