Four of us PA boys just got back from South Dakota. Finally got to stretch out the Ackley along with my pal Roger Gower, also shooting an Ackley. Killed a bunch of dogs over 800 yds and killed two at 1053 and 1068 respectively. Roger managed two at 1056 and 1057 according to the Leica 1200 LRF Scan. Learned a few things along the way. #1. A 6PPC is more than capable of killing P-Dogs out to 600yds and so is a 22PPC. #2. Reticle selection is critical when trying to make hits on dogs beyond 1000 yds. I was shooting a 6.5X20 Zeiss with a fine duplex and it was covering them at 1000, the only scope that didn't was a Weaver Grand Slam 6X20 with a tiny little dot reticle. #3 For just plain fun a P-doggity hunt is unbeatable.
