'Oversize' Cartridges & Tight Chamber on 45ACP

cast bullets in 45acp are typically .001 bigger than a jacketed bullet. it makes a bigger round ON PURPOSE. same answer look at the ammo spec, cast bullet is .001 bigger. people that do cast bullets do this all the time and a cast round will be bigger. sizing them smaller ruins the cast bullet
After 10's of thousands of 45acp I'm confidant in what I suggested. If found that to hard of an alloy can cause more leading problems tha too soft contrary to what most think. Check Missouri bullets website if you don't believe this. You never know when and where you'll learn something. I'm done with this p contest. You do you and I'll do me.

i am a founding member of CASTBOOLITS. i know a little about cast bullets in both pistol and rifle. i will not recomend your bandaid to anyone. just because you do something does not make it right.

Being a founding member of anything doesn't mean your the end-beat all . In this case it seems to mean a closed mind.

and you undersized the bullets by resizing.
there is a reason cast bullets are bigger and even the saami spec shows it

Yes, I did.

These cast bullets were loaded for my old Springfield 1911 and worked fine.

I since sold the Springer and got a Sig 1911. The chamber was tighter than the Springer.

I have since loaded FMJ 230 gr, but still needed to use up about 350 rnds of the cast.

as with all issues,
id the problem and fix it.
in this case several people have attempted to fix the SYMPTOM. and ignore the problem.

You are seating a bullet into a tapered case which may have tapering wall thickness. Try seating the bullet to a longer COAL.
