Would it hurt the accuracy using a R.E.M. 700 varmint barrel in a 1.25 barrel channel?

Won't hurt anything at all, it will let the barrel cool better also.

+1 on the cooling. Just make sure you do a good bedding job so the barrel fully free floats in the barrel channel. No new stock is truly 'drop in' ready. I've had some that were really really close, but never 100% perfect
