Overall length of 7mm wsm with Berger 195vld? 180vld? Please help

Looking at several rifles and can't find any where what the overall length of a 7mm wsm with the 180 or 195 Berger vld would be. I need to find out my minimum size for the magazine chamber. Please help!

Luke the answer you seek is going to be different for every rifle. Those long slippery Bergers are going to have a sweet spot that will vary from barrel to barrel. So, depending on the length of the barrel throat and the offset from the lands there can be considerable cartridge OAL difference. If you are shooting a factory chamber the bullets will probably seat to a magazine length but the bullet inside the case will eat up some real-estate you might want for powder. If you are building a custom rig I would recommend using a 30-06 length action that will allow a long throat and you will be able to seat bullets above the shoulder and still be less than max 30-06 length.

If you want the bullet out in the neck where it should be you'll end up around 3.2" The WSM is a long action cartirdge in my opinion.

In our reloading data we figure the loads for the 7mm WSM and our 195 EOL bullets on a COAL of 2.999 inches. On the 7 mm WSM and our 180 grain bullet(s) its 2.860 inches.
