Over and under stiff action

I bought a CZ o/u and it is a bit stiff to open. The latch is very stiff let alone the break open part. Have tried a half dozen different lubes with not much success? Any ideas?

I would take it apart and clean it with a solvent like lacquer thinner, then use a good quality gun oil. Then sit in front of the TV and work parts back and forth. If that didn't help, I might consider using some lapping compound for a minimal amount, as long as I could wash it all out.

Do you mean take stock off and clean latch and use lapping compound on it ?

I would take the wood off to keep the solvent from damaging the finish if you're going to use something will damage it. Brake cleaner works well to but can be hard on some finishes. Blow it out with an air compressor if you can.
I would not make the lapping compound my first choice but would try to open the action a bunch first. I would imagine that once its cleaned and lubed, it should just take a bit of moving the parts together to wear them in a little.

Sounds like the same problem I had with my new Browning o/u. The latch wasn't any kind of problem, but getting it to break open simply took more effort than it should. After 3 or 4 outings shooting trap, it now breaks open nicely with no special effort. So, I think your issue is like mine in that it's just a matter of it being new and with a little break-in time it'll stop being so stiff.

Think I might have it,I took the forearm off then very carefully filled the back side of the piece the forearm latches on that is attached to barrel . Don't no what it's called but a small bit of filing did wonders

Improvise, adapt and overcome . That wouldn't have been my first choice but it will probably last the rest of our lifetime.

Years and years ago I bought a very inexpensive Brazilian Boita 12-gauge IC/Mod over and under that was so stiff I actually had to break it open over my knee with considerable force. I persevered simply because it shot brilliantly, was actually quite attractive and handled extremely well. I cleaned all surfaces well and spent time opening and closing it in front of the TV like Twdmar suggested. Finally after around 6 or 7 boxes of shells it started functioning smoothly. Of course, as is the fate of most firearms I've had over the years that I should have held on to, I traded it off.

Can't hurt a Huglo...lol Actually this was something I read off another forum, what I really should have done is filed the piece in the forearm ,that way if I messed up it would be simple to replace. But I guess thats how we got our name(JARHEAD)
