Bolt catching at top of cam over

I was looking at your sear , has someone polished it or cut it ? It could be the picture , but in front of the pin It looks diff.
Not the spot on the horiz. surface , the very back of the sear , it should be angled.

After the sear released the cocking piece, the sear was held against the bottom of the cocking piece as it and the firing pin move forward. This is because these triggers all have a reset spring so that the trigger can re- engage as the bolt is cycled. The length of the marks is the travel of the cocking piece (and firing pin) when the rifle is dry fired. With a round is fired it is a little less, because the primer stops the forward motion of the firing pin before it bottoms on the front side of the flange that the front of the firing pin spring rests against.

I believe that what you feel with the trigger in place is a little cock on close. The cocking piece is picking up the trigger at a point in the bolt's rotation when the flat back surfaces of the lugs have not quite transitioned from the closing cams to the flat surfaces that they rest against when the bolt is closed. Because of this, the force of the firing pin spring must be overcome for the next little bit of bolt rotation until the corners of the lugs come off of their closing cams. As has been mentioned, this is a timing issue, best left to a smith that really understands these sorts of things. Apparently, not all do. I believe that Jim Borden has a really good understanding of action timing, and how to correct it. There are undoubtedly others, but they do not come to mind just now. I suggest that you give him a call.
