Outstanding Group

This 5 shot group in .308 was witnessed in France last month. It was made at 300 meters by a very young, she turned 15 this week end) and very nice lady who goes by the name of Oceane. This was her first attempt to shoot a high power rifle, in this case a PGM "Ultima Ratio" sniper rifle, and she didn't even bother to use a rear bag!
The story doesn't end here: Last week end, Oceane attended a long range match on a military range in the deep South of France; the range belongs to the Special Forces and only the happy few are allowed in the perimeter, however she got the clearance to join in. The rules are quite simple: 10 shots at 300m, 10 shots at 400m, and 10 shots at 600m... Oceane had never shot that far, and the range is a very tricky one, as the winds are constantly shifting, but she managed to place 4th out of 80 competitors, despite the fact that, on that very morning, she mistakenly used her mother's contact lenses...

A star is born, hopefully!

Now I can strive to shoot like a girl, awesome!

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is that rifle?

It's a PGM Ultima Ratio sniper rifle, it's made in France on a bench rest action design patented by the late Monsieur Payen, a world class bench rest shooter, wildcatter and gunsmith. The company manufactures rifles in a variety of calibers, including .308 Win, .260 Rem, .338 Lapua Magnum and .50 BMG... They don't come cheap and most of the customers are special force outfits and SWAT teams from various european countries.

I am impressed. Congratulations to the young lady! :thumb:

I've shot 100 yard groups that look like that, but 300? Never...

Very nice shooting indeed. Regards, Guy

So has she done any shooting before? If not, she should be buying lottery tickets because that is just plain luck. I am not trying to be rude or sarcastic here but to just pick up a rifle and know how to dope wind at long range is a very specific skill that would have to be learned. Was she coached?

Troy - first time I had my lady shooting a 1KBR Match, she won the whole thing with the 4th smallest group of the year, that is out of over 1000 groups)

Seems a pattern with women shooters...

Jason,

Did you ask your lady friend what her strategy was for shooting the group? Maybe a good thing more women don't shoot :-)

As I said, to the best of my knowledge, she has no experience in shooting high power; she just tried to shoot that frog rifle with all her small bore experience and she did just fine...
I think she was coached during her 1st long range match, but the group on the photo was not coached.
She seems to be very thorough and focused in everything she does and according to the people who gave me the picture and the story, she's always very quiet and she listens a lot. Quite unusual these days.

Hello, this photo is my daughter's photo it is called 0céane. She/it never practiced shooting before last month except some sessions to the compressed air or she/it was very bad.
To pull far and to the big caliber amuses it she/it is going to continue therefore. Thank you to have dedicated him this page.
Forgiveness for my mediocre English.

Hi,

I was on the side of Océane when she made that group.
She did well, she had no coach, and no rear support.

On the second thumbnails is a picture taken during the long range match. On her side is her coach, christian SALVA.
That guy makes rifles, the sporting version of the PGM, and a special model call the URS,Ultima Ratio Salva) made in coopération with PGM.
He is also an NRA,english) Club Coach. And he had won in Bisley,GB) I think about 5 or 6 trophies in sniping competition.
And he is a member of the "Groupe Mike".
If you go in the Photo Gallery of "snipercountry" you will see him holding a walther 2000 rifle.

Next friday, Océane will be shooting at 1200 yards. She has been selected in the team where she will join another cadet like her Jessica who is 15 years old also. Jessica has already shot at 1200 yards using the PGM hécate II in .50 and hit her target.
After hitting she said:"wow, that's nice, can I have another round please!" She had never shot à fullbore rifle before.
That day she printed a 30 out of 30 at 600 meters with a Swing target rifle, diopter) prone with the sling, unsupported. Not Bad.
Hope these girls will continue that way.

Bravo a nos amis Francais.
