Outlier Pre-fit Barrel Question

I have an Impact Action looking to build an ELR gun, came across Mountains Mullets America where he is shooting a 7prc with an Outlier barrel on a Prestine action. I Messaged Outler and asked them if there remington 700 barrels will fit an Impact action, they responded that my action uses the same tenon patterns as their Remington 700 clone prefits. Anyone have any thoughts on this, will it work? Thanks

Some prefits are super good deals..if your bullet choice is happy in there..man buy 3 of them..the next one may not behave 4 ya...some prefits are pretty middle of the road..but you will need another barrel soon enuff..I used prefits for years..I can't stand the wait times at gunsmiths..I like my gunsmith now i buy barrels ahead of time, I'm not sharing him till I'm dead..a month and he delivers my rifles to our range....mike in ct damit. Ps. The $89.00 midway A&B savage prefits..just a fond memory now. that short lived 243 varmint weight barrel..yes.i should have bought everyone one of those blue steel shooters they offered at that price..one other standout from Adam's n Bennett..a 35 Whelan that stays on a half dollar at 200 yds..serious 250gr. #3520 Hornaday interlock sp.bullet..it hits hard.

every now and then a prefit can shoot great, the company your interest in purchasing from I personally did not get what I asked for, I didn't pursue it because im always chambering and building different ideas so sooner or later i will use it, it was the one chance and last chance i will give them. Also have assembled 2 for other people and never heard of any kinda great performance? So if you have ever cared about accuracy that is one more variable in why does this have weird accuracy issues, any barrel lug variation can alter headspace, and there will not be any sort of indexing a high or low to action fit. I also care about speed of getting something working as quick as possible and being able to purchase a prefit and screw it on yourself is a great feeling, so im just emphasizing a phrase a buddy used tell me at work was, you always have time to do it right a second time, puts speed of a quick order shipped to your door will be a longer wait the second time and numerous rounds loaded and range time spent.

The outlier pre-fit I got shoots about 3 MOA.
Tell me more,
I was considering trying out an Outlier 7mm barrel
But a blank to chamber and fit myelf
Do you believe the accuracy was a result of the barrel quality?
They say they are 416 SS, buttoned
but 3 moa is ,,,,,like the barrel is worn out and no rifling type accuracy

Its basically the same as a 1k dollar cut rifle barrel for 200 bucks! Now you can buy 4 for the price of one! I know, because every guntuber out there dropped a video that told me so in the same week! Heck I sold off all my s&b, nightforce, and kahles scopes and replaced em with arkerns too! The chinese just do it better! You should see all the world record 2 shot groups these barrels and scopes have produced!

I guess it's possible but
I dont see how they could be worse than a factory take off from ebay for $100
I mean for a fun or plinking build, maybe 1/2-3/4 MOA
not a competitive build

There are plenty of prefits that shoot great, urbanrifleman on here produces a great prefit at a great price, Southern precision rifles produces another great prefit with brux, bartlien, krieger blanks.

I wouldn’t put one of those nut needed prefits on a custom action like you have. Your action can take shouldered prefits. Order one from a good company and screw it on.

Its a 308 pre-fit on a howa 1500 in a krg bravo chassis shot with a front rest and rear bag. Tried 175 & 168 matchkings and 150 hornadys , 3-5 moa is just what it shoots. This action has never shot great but this is by far the worst.

Interesting,
Is it possible, as I heard relating to 260 Rem that Saami Specs for a 3 degree leade
And caused erratic accuracy issues with our new VLD type bullets
( according to Mr Tooley here I believe it was)
And similarly, could it be possibile that your 308 chamber - does not have a 1.5 deg leade angle?
Causing the same problem.
Just a thought that maybe simply throating the lead to ensure you have a 1.5deg may help bunches.
(In other words, no telling what 308 Reamer someone else used ,,,
.......just to get get the product out the door)
I have gotten very good accuracy with 175 TMK's in a variety of 9&10 twist 308s
so your Standard 175 SMK should do similar.
3 MOA is frustrating

Another thought here
I once (Once is enough) tried an MDT chassis
Now granted it was their light LSS chassis
Regardless
Upon taking my barreld action out of a bedded wood stock which printed 1/2"
And placing it into the MDT chassis
My groups immediately opened up to 2-3 inches at 100 yds
I was beside myself
Checking everything else of course
Not correlating the two together, but then had to think that is the only thing I changed
So I put it back into the wood stock and low and behold it went right back to pringing 1/2" or less.
Come to find out the chassis flexed so much at the forend (I hate 6061 chassis's) that was the problem
Is your fore end stiff enough for your barrel, weight?

I've bought 5 barrels(6CM, 6.5CM and 7PRC) from Outlier. All of them bull barrels, 1.25" and in 20" and 26". All of them have exceeded my expectations and their MOA guarantee. I use them on actions from Savage, Howa and Rem donors I've bought at estate sales, gun shows and such to tinker with. I don't think I'd mount one on a custom action, just for cosmetic reasons.

My gunsmith and I scoped the barrels before mounting them and found the chambers all within spec and the bores pretty damn clean without expected tool marks. So, screw 'em on, shoot 'em out has been the M.O., unless I get bored. Under $300 and to my door in a few weeks ain't bad.

They're my Harbor Freight of rifle barrels.

Well i WAS, thinking of trying one
Just got on their website to try and motivate myself to gamble a little bit....
.....Their prices doubled since my last post
Forget you OUTLIER!
I think I'll stick with krieger or hart for an extra $100-$150

Have they, though?

I was under the impression that the super-cheap 'teaser' barrel was something silly, like a 16", 1.2" straight cylinder, no threads, no chamber.

To get any other length, any other contour, any kind of chamber, any kind of pre-fit for an action, fluting, finish, etc. were always ala carte / extra. Still cheaper than most other options. Whether they're worth it... that's always the question.

Well a couple weeks ago
99 for a barrel
plus fluting and extra length to make it 26"
came out to about $230
Now its more like $350
-----------------------------------------------------
They gonna go outa business if they keep that crap up with crap barrels
A Krieger from some suppliers is only $399
Who in their right mind is gonna give up having a Krieger in favor of an Outlier just to save $50
and gamble a ton of accuracy over that $50
-----------------------------------------------------
As a matter of fact
Im gonna copy and paste this very message and email it to them
Maybe piss em off enough to whack some sense into them

Good luck with that ;)
What am I gonna loose?
Not getting an unproven barrel? lol
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I made sure to point out the 100% markup within 1 week has been noticed
