Out of battery detonation

UPDATE.....

The ammo maker contacted me again this morning. They want the ammo returned to them for their examination along with the fired cases. I have a prepaid shipping label and instructions for a UPS home pickup. It's on me to get it properly packaged, no problem there.

The three bricks I have (1500 rds.) will be replaced soon. They want to hear about any news I receive from Ruger.

UPDATE......

I got a phone call this morning from Ruger customer service. The GP 100 .22 was determined to be damaged out of factory specs and will be scrapped. I will be sent a new revolver under factory warranty ASAP. I am making arrangements with a local FFL to receive the new gun.

You can bet the ammo maker will be advised of this news.

Was it damaged by the OOB det or, was it out of spec and that is what caused the OOB det?

That my friend is the million dollar question. Neither manufacturer will ever release their findings to me. I am just happy to be getting a new gun and my ammo replaced with little inconvenience inflicted on me. I'm just the poor slob that this happened to and chose to share it with you guys.

It was interesting, I wish we knew the ultimate answer. Glad everything worked out and no one was hurt.

UPDATE.....

The ammo maker acknowledged receiving Ruger's plan to replace the GP 100. The suspect ammo was received and will be sent to their lab for testing. I can expect a shipment of replacement ammo and will be advised prior to it leaving the warehouse.

I appreciate both manufacturers prompt attention to this anomaly, but especially to Ruger for replacing the gun.

After reading all the replies to this incident the thing that stands out the most to me is how the OP handled the whole situation. It appears he approached it in a calm and patient manner and went through the proper channels and his reward for that was a very positive outcome. How many times has an issue like this been posted and many times no attempt was even made to see if the manufacturer would make it right,

UPDATE......

Ruger just called me with news. They don't keep inventory at the plant, all guns are shipped out upon completion. They will not redirect a gun in a distributor warehouse. The next batch of GP100's in .22LR starts next week. I will be sent a fresh out of the Ruger oven gun in 2-3 weeks. I can smell them cooking, oh boy!!;)
