Original Hood press - Mounting options

Looking for ideas and pictures of how people have permanently mounted their Hood presses. Seems like mounting to my regular reloading table is far too low. I was thinking of some sort of press riser would be perfect. Anxious to see your pictures.

Seriously?? Nobody has unique ways you mount the Hood press?

I just clamp it to the nearest table
I’m going to find some way to elevate it because my bench would level would put it too low when the ram is at the top position and the handle is at the bottom of its stroke. I’m looking at one of the ultra mounts from inline fabrication.

I’ve been happy with Inline products. I’m not sure if they make a mounting plate specifically for a Hood press but they sell blank plates you can drill out to your needs. Or if you prefer you can send them a template and they will do it for you.

I use this for my RFD press. Sinclair sold them. Great for portable range use.

Are you standing up when you load?

I like the Inline Fabrications stuff. They have blank plates available in a variety of sizes. 100% solid mounts.

I wish inline fab had the templates for each press, I’m betting the Hood press may share the mounting hole distance with one of their available templates. But the custom option is really nice touch as well.

I believe the Hood press just has a single clamp from the bottom like the Harrels press
Two holes on the bracket for mounting permanently to a bench or a inline fabrication ultra mount

@Dave M. I am currently sitting to size on my Hood Press and it is the easy answer. I do prefer to stand and already have the InLine Fabrication 9 3/4" Quick Change Ultramount for my other presses. Dan at InLine Fab replied to my question about a quick change top plate for the Hood "... it is a custom one (They are $39.95), takes about a week and a half to be ready to ship". I've got a couple questions into him about the mounting and then will go ahead if the answers are good. Feel free to DM me if you want to get into any specifics. Jeff Noonan

I've bought blank top plates from Inline Fabrication and drilled my own holes for mounting various things. If you have a drill, it's a simple thing.

i have 2 mounting brackets. one stays on my portable loading table and the other stays on my loading bench in the house. i welded up a 6 inch high riser to mount the one in the house on. it is just some angle iron with the mounting bracket on top.
