Optics in Service Rifle competition...

From talking with Dennis only thing being changed is allowing of optical sights. He wanted to push the envelope a little farther yet but the rules committee wasn't wanting to do that at this time.

OK Shawn,
You are more up on this than I so clarify this for me if you would. I show up with my match rifle, (you know the one) and replace my irons with a 4x scope. In that configuration, what class/category am I placed in?

It doesn't really matter to me what they use. Most of the young guys can shoot better than I can anyhow. Even with my scope and freefloat tube. I shoot because I enjoy shooting. Some days are good and some days are not so good, but no days are bad.

As of right now that would be considered Any Sight match rifle (Rule 3.3.2) and you're outside of the competition unless there is enough to make a class, just like it was last year. For that there is no scope magnification rule. The 4.5x rule is only for service rifle. This is hopefully something the rule committee will address and combine any sight match rifle under Rule 3.3 just like they've done with any sight service rifle.
