optics for a precision ar. what works best for u?

I'm in the process of assembling a precision ar. Jp ctr-02 upper and only the best for the rest. So this brings me to my question. What is the best type of optic for long range prairie dog shoots? Would you treat it the same as any other bolt action type rifle? I would imagine acog or 3gun type optics Will limit the distance in which you can identify a dog. When I say long distance I mean anything out to 1000 as my ability allows. Just don't want to be limited by my optic. Thanks, nick.

I run a black diamond 8-32x50mm burris.Nice scope ,great optics. They come up for sale fairly often and at affordable prices.Other wise there is a myriad of scopes in this power range that are available like the sightron S111 8-32x56 which is built like a tank and good optics.Just donot get the mildot reticle,it sucks.

get a night force of your choice or 10-80 march...you said best.
...i use 36 x leupolds on my ar bench guns. a 8.5-25x 30mm tube on my 1000yd lite gun.
and yes the black dia is another option

Here's my Bushmaster Varmint. No frills shooter. Extremely accurate and user friendly, makes a newer precision shooter (such as myself) nail 2" groups @ 200 meters. I also nailed a clay pigeon at 250 yds. I have a 24" heavy barrel, FF rail, Harris bipod, and a Vltor stock. The only accurizing I have done was add a rubber accurizer for the rear take down pin. Helps tighten up the upper/lower loose fit. I also am running a Bushnell Banner 6-18X50 scope. Excellent optic that is relatively short money. It's not however a 1K yard scope, but I also think your really stretching the .223/5.56 capabilities anything beyond 600 yards. Good luck with the build !
