Optical Cod-Locks

Wouldn't you just need one. In front of rear ring. I never seen a scope slide backwards, always forward. I believe like Roger said heavier scopes and recoil makes the scope want to stay and the gun move back. Matt
Matt,

90 % of the time that would work, but I have seen them slide off to the rear. So for the cautious folks, such as myself I use two.

Occasionally something comes along and you say to yourself , "Why didn't I think of that!" If your rifle has a piccatinny rail read no further, but for those of us who have regular rings and bases this is the best piece of shooting insurance you can buy.

Last year I fought with keeping my scope rings from slipping on my bases. At a match in Riverbend Ga I started getting crazy shots. Mark Roper was shooting beside me and said, "little buddy your scopes about to fall off!" Dammit! I had just tightened it the day before for the same reason.

There are other ways to fix the problem! I went with the nuclear option of JB Weld. Not optimal if you prefer to remove your scope before changing barrels. You can also go with double screw scope rings if you can handle the extra weight or perhaps pound a brass shim under a ring. As for me it's Cod-Locks all the way. I love these things!

Bart
That's what happens when you try to shoot a 600 nitro express in bench rest. :D

Bart would probably walk in circles if he only locked one of his cods.

Bart,

Who's making/selling these?

Tom

I'm pretty sure you're right!

arkcomatt is making them. He can be contacted by PM. I found them in the classifieds.

unless you have the 45,125,175,31, deg barrelbacceroffer wrench with T handle, take yer scope off I think

I've never had that problem using Burris Z rings. I've taken it off one rifle turned the elevation knob 3 complete turns and put it on another rifle and back again, and the scope still holds point of impact!

Burris rings have across bolt that sits in a notch. Matt

Mike,

I'd love to get out of here for a bit. Same goes for you if you start to overheat! We'll likely be shooting over snow first couple matches. It's a unique mirage/dirty look that a guy really should experience at least once. It's especially cool when the heat from the barrel passes by the line of sight and the reticle intermittently disappears!

Tom

Tom,

It was kind of rough shooting here this week to!!!! I got bit by a mosquito changing targets! LMAO!

Bart

Matt that's my point exactly, I've seen those dove tales slide, remember Frank using Dan's rifle I was in pit on his target. When I came back I told him he had scope problem, but they said no and when I looked at the rifle it looked like a cantilever, it was ready to fall off! Had dove tales years ago, never trusted them.

Joe I never had one move. Matt

I had single screw move on a Panda, the only time i would use single screw dove tail ring and mount is for weight savings for LV. class. A little thread locker does help with the movement.... jim
