Opinons on McGowen barrel for 6mm BR

Does any one have any experiences with McGowen barrels for a 6mm br rifle. This rifle will have a savage target action. Please let me know what you think. Would I be better off with a Douglas, that was my gunsmiths recommendation. Thanks.

I do not own a 6br,YET!), but I do have both McGowen and Douglas barrels and they are both very accurate and well made barrels. I dont think you'll go wrong with either one.

I have a 1-7 twist SS McGowen, 6mm-6.5x47 Lapua and the first time I shot it beyond 200 I was shooting off of steel @ 500 yards. No sighters and had a 3-shot group 1.25 inches.

I have a McGowen # 8 in 308 it shoots excellent. The break in is very good! I will have another one!!!! Sub Moa at 400yd.

I've done some load work with a Mcgowen .22-250 and they will shoot!easily a .250-.300" gun if not better. And I've seen pdog06's results with his .308 and they are great.I can also put you in contact with a member on our home forum who has one on a Savage Target action if you want.

i have a McGowen barrel in 300 wsm and it is a constant 1/4 when i do my part and still and easy 1/2 or so when im not to good. break in was awesome and quick. all i can say is i will have another one in 6mm br very soon.
